CCC: One Year of Silence, One Year Complicit

May 6 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

For one year, we have gone to Champaign City Council to ask our city to stand up against genocide.

For one year, we asked our elected officials to stand up against human rights violations.

For one year, we demanded to be heard.

For one year, we asked our elected officials to use the power they had to interrupt systemic violence.

For one year, we have been met with silence. 🤐

As our country descends into fascism, as students get their visa revoked, as America citizens get detained, as our free speech is encroached upon, as the surveillance state gets stronger—we must hold our elected officials accountable.

Their continued silence in the face of overwhelming demand from the public shows us that they choose not to do better.

Let’s hold our elected officials to account, utilize our rights, and stand up for each other as a community.

Come out and demand that the Champaign City Council apologize to their Palestinian constituents and divest from human rights violations.

Come to Champaign City Council on May 6 at 6:30 to rally outside city council and use your public comment time to tell city council that one year of inaction is long enough.

It is not too late to take a stand against genocide.
It is not too late to fight fascism.
It is not too late to stand up for human rights.
