In 2026, there will be general elections across Illinois. In Champaign County, there will be two elections: the General Primary Election on March 17 and the General Election November 3.
On March 17th, Illinois will be holding primaries for federal, congressional, state and local elections. Illinois follows an open partisan primary with nonpartisan registration. This means that any voter can vote for either democratic or republican primaries, however, they must select one ballot only.
For this election in Champaign County, there are open primary races for the federal congressional races of Illinois Senator, Illinois 2nd Congressional District, Illinois 13th Congressional District, and Illinois 15th Congressional District.
On a state level, there are open primary races for Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller, and Treasurer as well as the 103rd and 104th District Illinois House Seat.
Local to Champaign County, there are races for Champaign County board.
We call on all eligible voters in Champaign County to make sure they are registered to vote and to get their votes in either by mail (starting now), early voting, or on March 17th.
If you are not sure how to vote or who to vote for, we have prepared a voter guide and you can access it here. Feel free to share widely.
