The Palestinian Museum Comes to Champaign-Urbana on Nakba Day [5.15.25]

Share CU MAC is bringing the Palestine Museum’s latest exhibition: ‘Gaza Remains the Story’ to Champaign-Urbana on Nakba Day at the Channing-Murray Foundation.

Champaign-Urbana – CU Muslim Action Committee (CU MAC) is honored to be able to bring the Palestinian Museum’s latest exhibition to the Champaign-Urbana community. The exhibition is called ‘Gaza Remains the Story’ and covers themes related to the ongoing violence on Gaza, historical context, international solidarity, and art and culture.

“The Palestinian Museum is a non-governmental association dedicated to supporting an open and vibrant Palestinian culture locally and internationally. The museum presents and contributes to narratives on Palestinian history, culture and society from new and critical perspectives. Its mission is the production and dissemination of emancipatory learning experiences about Palestine, its people and history through innovative programmes in Palestine and around the world.”

This exhibition will be available for viewing on Nakba Day, Thursday, May 15 outside the Channing-Murray Foundation from 12:00 – 3:00 PM. It can also be viewed inside Channing-Murray Foundation from 3:00 – 6:00 PM, before the screening of Academy award winning documentary No Other Land.

Thursday marks the 77th anniversary of the ongoing Nakba. The Nakba is the ongoing ‘catastrophe’: the forced expulsion and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from Palestinian land. During the Nakba, more than 800,000 Palestinians were expelled from their lands, with Jewish paramilitaries murdering of over 15,000 Palestinians, and razing over 400 cities and towns. Although the Nakba occurred over months, and even continues today, Palestinians remember the Nakba every year on May 15.

“After the silence of our officials and their complicity in this genocide, being able to see a little of Palestine in Champaign-Urbana is a reminder that Champaign-Urbana stands with Palestine,” says Dua Aldasouqi, local Palestinian and CU MAC member.

On this Nakba day and every day, CU MAC stands in full solidarity with the Palestinian people — their right to live free, to return home, and to exist with dignity. We stand against the attempts to erase them, to silence them, to rewrite history.

We call on our community to stay awake, to stay loud, and to stay on the side of truth. Please join us on Thursday 5/15 at the Channing-Murray Foundation:

  • 12:00 – 3:00 PM: Gaza Remains the Story, outside
  • 3:00 – 6:00 PM: Gaza Remains the Story, inside
  • 6:00 – 9:00 PM: Screening & Community Discussion of No Other Land
